This easy to make trinket bowl can be crocheted using a variety of colors and materials. This style, named Dena, is six-inches in diameter and one-inch deep.
Materials:
- Coats & Clarks South Maid - Size 10, #430 Cream (Color A)
- Coats & Clarks Knit-Cro-Sheen, #128 Deep Coral (Color B)
- Size 6 Crochet Hook
- Stiffening Solution (see last page)
Notes:
- As you crochet, you will notice the piece becoming more bowl-shaped which is what you want it to do.
- Directions for stiffening the piece are at the end of the crochet instructions
With color A, ch 6, join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 15 dc in ring, sl st in top of ch-3.
Rnd 2: Ch 5 (counts as first dc and ch-2), (dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2) 4 times, dc in next dc, ch 2, 2 dc in next dc, join with sl st in 3rd of beg ch 5. Fasten off: 20 dc.
Rnd 3: Join color B in center of any ch-2 sp after a 3-dc group, ch 6 (counts as first dc and ch-3), * dc in center of next ch-2 sp, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 3, sk next dc, dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 3, repeat from * 5 times, join in 3rd of beg ch-6. Fasten off: 5 groups of 4 dc and 5 single dc.
Rnd 4: Attach color A in the 3rd dc of any 4-dc group, ch 4 (counts as first tr), * 2 tr in next dc, ch 2, 3 tr in ch-3 sp, ch 2, sk single dc and make 3 tr in next ch-3 sp, ch 2, tr in 3rd dc of next 4-dc group, rep from * around, join in top of beg ch-4: 15 groups of 3 tr.
Rnd 5: Ch 5 (counts as first dc and ch-2), sk next tr and dc in last tr in 3-tr group, ch 2, * dc in first tr in next group, ch 2, dc in last tr, ch 2, rep from * around, join in 3rd of beg ch-5. Fasten off: 30 single dcs.
Rnd 6: Attach color B in the center of any ch-2 sp, ch 4, tr in dc, 2 tr in next ch-2 sp, ch 3, * tr in center of next ch-2 sp, tr in dc, 2 tr in next ch-2 sp, ch 3, rep from * around, join in top of beg ch-4. Fasten off: 15 groups of 4 tr.
Rnd 7: Attach color A in any ch-3 sp, push st to the right, ch 4 (counts as first tr), 2 tr in same sp, ch 2, tr in 3rd of 4-tr group, ch 2, * 3 tr in ch-3 sp, ch 2, tr in 3rd of 4-tr group, ch 2, rep from * around, join in top of beg ch-4: 15 groups of 3 tr and 15 single tr.
Rnd 8: Ch 7 (counts as first dc and ch-4), dc in center of 1st ch-3 sp, ch 4, * dc in first tr of next 3-tr group, ch 4, dc in center of next ch-3 sp, ch 4, rep from * around, join in 3rd of beg ch-7. Fasten off: 30 dc.
Rnd 9: Attach color B in the center of any ch-4 sp, ch 4 (counts as first tr), tr in same sp, tr in next dc, 2 tr on the right side of the next ch-4 sp, ch 2, tr in next dc, ch 2, * 2 tr starting in the center of the next ch-4 sp, tr in dc, 2 tr on the right side of the next ch-4 sp, ch 2, tr in next dc, ch 2, rep from * around, join in top of beg ch-4. Fasten off: 15 groups of 5 tr and 15 single tr.
Rnd 10: Attach color A in any ch-2 sp that is after any 5-tr group, ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in tr, dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, dc in 2nd, 3rd and 4th tr of 5-tr group, ch 2, * dc in center of ch-2 sp, dc in tr, dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, dc in 2nd, 3rd and 4th tr of 5-tr group, ch 2, rep from * around, join in top of beg ch-3: 30 groups of 3-dc.
Rnd 11: Sl st in next 2 dc, ch 4 (counts as first tr), 2 tr in ch-2 sp, tr in next ch-2 sp, ch 3, sk 3-dc group and tr in next ch-2 sp, ch 3, * tr in last dc of 3-dc group, 2 tr in next ch-2 sp, ch 3, sk 3-dc group and tr in next ch-2 sp, ch 3, rep from * around, join in top of beg ch-4. Fasten off: 15 groups of 3-tr and 15 single tr.
Rnd 12: Attach color B in any ch-3 sp, ch 3 counts as first dc), 2 dc in same ch-3 sp, ch 3, * 3 dc in each ch-3 sp, ch 3, rep from * around, join in top of beg ch-3. Fasten off: 30 groups of 3-dc.
Rnd 13: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each dc and ch st around (do not sc around ch sts but in to each one).
Rnd 14: Sl st in each st around. Fasten off. Weave in all loose threads.
